TEF IRN training and exam in the same week
Your French is already at the right level, but your prefecture appointment is getting close and you have never seen the TEF IRN format. Our methodology modules last from 3 to 12 hours, in mornings before your exam, and the last one can be on the morning of the exam itself. The TEF IRN exam is included in the price; nothing is paid before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period, and the first morning takes place at the earliest 15 days after you order.
Two offers not to be confused
We offer two different things to candidates who need to take the TEF IRN. It is the placement test that determines which one suits you, and this decision is made with you before any registration.
Training courses last from 12 to 36 hours depending on your level, in 3-hour sessions, and are eligible for the CPF. They improve your level of French. If the placement test shows that your level still needs to rise, these are the courses we point you towards.
The packs presented on this page last from 3 to 9 hours, can only be self-funded and are never eligible for CPF funding; the 12-hour module matches the first length of our courses. They do not develop your French: they teach you the exam format, the timing and the assessment criteria. They are for you if you have already reached the required level.
What these modules are: and what they are not
These are methodology support modules. They teach you the format of the four papers, the timing and the assessment criteria. They do not improve your French: they teach you to show the level you already have.
They are not eligible for CPF funding and do not replace a training course. If the placement test shows that your level still needs to improve, we point you towards one of our CPF-funded TEF IRN courses, from 12 hours. This decision is not negotiable: it protects your result.
Who they are for
- You already have the target level: A2, B1 or B2: and the placement test confirms it.
- You have never taken the TEF IRN and want to find out how it works before exam day.
- You have already taken it and want to fix a specific point before retaking it.
- Your application deadline is getting close and you are looking for guidance, not for learning.
How the week works
Everything starts with a written and spoken placement test, not charged for, lasting about 45 minutes. It determines whether a module is enough or a training course is needed.
- 3-hour module: a single morning, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The exam takes place the same afternoon.
- 6-hour module: two mornings in the same week, exam on the afternoon of the second.
- 9-hour module: three mornings, spread over one to two weeks at most.
- 12-hour module: four mornings before your exam.
- Access time: the first morning takes place at the earliest 15 days after your order (14-day withdrawal period).
- Small groups of the same level.
The programme, class by class
Each module is run in 3-hour classes, in a group, on our premises. The TEF IRN exam is included in the price shown: it is not paid for separately. These modules cannot be funded through the personal training account (CPF): the Caisse des dépôts sets a minimum of 10 hours for an eligible training course.
- 3-hour module: Getting started · 300 € (370 € with the exam at the urgent rate) · 1 class. How the four papers work, their order and the adaptive nature of the questionnaires. What the examiners expect from a written production and from speaking. A timed comprehension series in the exam format, corrected together at the end of the class.
- 6-hour module: Methodology · 420 € (490 € with the exam at the urgent rate) · 2 classes. The class from the 3-hour module, then a class devoted to the two expression papers: in writing, the two tasks within the time set by the certifying body; orally, obtaining information then persuading. Productions are reviewed as a group against the TEF IRN assessment criteria. The class ends with a full mock exam in real conditions.
- 9-hour module: Enhanced methodology · 540 € (610 € with the exam at the urgent rate) · 3 classes. The two classes of the 6-hour module, then a group remedial class on the weakest skills identified in the mock exam, followed by a second mock exam as a check and paper-by-paper feedback on the CEFR scale.
- Work between classes: a comprehension series and a piece of writing to hand in, returned at the start of the following class.
- Resources: the computers used on exam day, and materials written by MYSTORY; no real TEF IRN question is reproduced, the certifying body’s items are protected.
Where the exam is taken

The premises are on one level and accessible. A disability contact person has been appointed, and exam adjustments are arranged with the certifying body before registration.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions
Can these modules be funded by the CPF?
No. This is methodology support outside the CPF, paid from your own funds, exam included: nothing to pay before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period, then a first payment of no more than 30% and the balance as the training goes on, by card, Klarna in 3 instalments or Lenbox in 3 or 4 instalments. Our CPF-eligible TEF IRN training courses are separate and start at 12 hours.
Can I really take the exam on the same day?
Yes, if you wish: the last morning can take place on the morning of your exam, with the exam held in the afternoon at the exam centre in Rosny-sous-Bois. The first morning takes place 15 days after the order at the earliest: your exam must therefore be on that date or later.
Is the exam fee included?
Yes: the TEF IRN exam is included in the price shown, it is not paid for separately. Everything is paid according to the course payment schedule: nothing during the 14-day withdrawal period, then no more than 30% and the balance as the mornings go by. With the exam at the urgent rate, the price rises to 370 €, 490 €, 610 € or 730 €.
And what if the placement test shows that my level is not high enough?
We will not sell you a module. We will point you towards the training course that matches your actual level, eligible for CPF funding. A module would not improve your French and you would risk failing the exam.
What is the difference with your intensive course?
The intensive course is a certifying training course, eligible for CPF funding, of 12 to 36 hours: it works on language skills. The methodology modules do not: they focus only on the exam format, for a candidate who already has the level.
How long between registration and the module?
At least 15 days: the first morning takes place 15 days after your order at the earliest, once the 14-day withdrawal period has ended. If your exam is sooner, you can book it on its own.
